George goes online

Published on .

America Online and Hachette Filipacchi Magazines launched George on AOL. Hachette already maintains a generous stable of titles on the online service, including Elle, Premiere, and Car and Driver.

In other news, AOL hits the road with a 30-day roadshow beginning on Aug. 15 to market the new version of its software, AOL 3.0, in sixteen cities..

The tour is a grassroots gesture likely to become part of a broader marketing effort culminating in a fall ad campaign launching in October from AOL's agency TBWA/Chiat Day..

Steve Case, AOL Chairman-CEO, told analysts and reporters in a fourth quarter conference call last week that the service will target novice users with a ``benefit-oriented'' approach in the campaign.
