German new media outfit sets up in U.K.

LONDON--Pixelpark, Germany's biggest new-media marketingspecialist, is adding the U.K. to its growing network of international offices.

Pixelpark U.K., which specializes in online media planning andbuying, electronic commerce and Web design, is looking for Britishclients expanding their online presence internationally, and international companies seeking to establish their presence on BritishWeb sites.

Managing Director Pat Nelson will be capitalizing on his previousexperiences as account director for sponsorship and e-commerce atMSN U.K, Microsoft's commercial online service; as MSN's advertisingdirector in the U.K. and Germany; and as head of advertising at theU.K. arm of Yahoo!, the Internet media giant.

"London is important to Pixelpark because most of the advertisingagencies and the leading brand owners are based in London. Our goalis to understand our clients better and help them improve their return on (online) investment," said Mr. Nelson. "We're exploringventures that may not necessarily be expected of the (standard) new-media agencies."

The company will also work with traditional ad agencies to broadenresources available to clients, said Mr. Nelson.

The London outfit currently has eight employees but is planningfurther recruitment by the end of July.

Pixelpark, with offices in Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, Stuttgart,Basle, New York, Paris and Zurich, was voted Germany's No. 1 newmedia agency by German advertising trade journals, including Horizont, in March 1999. Existing international clients include sportsgoods giant Adidas-Salomon, insurance group Allianz Versicherungs,and Germany's Deutsche Telekom, also Europe's biggest telecommunications group.
