United Distillers & Vintners named Richard Watling, global marketing director for its J&B scotch brand, to head its overall global Scotch whisky business as category director. The post had been vacant since November, when then category director Rob Malcom was appointed global marketing director for UDV. Mr. Watling will be responsible for focusing on UDV's global priority brands, including Johnnie Walker Red and Black Label, J&B, Bell's and its classic scotch malt whiskys. Succeeding Mr. Watling on J&B will be Johnnie Walker Global Marketing Director Iain Kennedy, whose replacement will be sought internally, according to a company spokeswoman.
