General Motors Corp., Detroit, will offer a live, online global broadcast of the 24 Hours of Le Mans race in France June 17 and 18 on gm.com
. GM's Chevrolet Corvette CR-5 and Cadillac LMP entries will have cameras giving viewers a driver's view of the race. Viewers also can visit chat rooms, get breaking race news or shop for branded merchandise. GM hopes visitors also will link to its vehicle shopping site
. The carmaker said the broadcast will build equity for the global Chevy and Cadillac brands, plus show off new technology available this fall in new models. That includes NightVision technology providing better visibility in the dark and vehicle Internet access. Quokka Sports, San Francisco, designed the Le Mans area of the GM Web site and is handling technical aspects for the Webcast.
