GM responds to dealers' suit

Published on .

General Motors Corp., Detroit, filed an 80-page response to a lawsuit filed in Cook County Circuit Court by its Illinois dealers, who are trying to stop the auto giant from dismantling regional dealer ad groups April 1. In its response filed Feb. 12, GM basically lays claim to money raised via an invoice item on vehicle sticker prices for regional ads, said a spokesman for the plaintiffs. The dealers claim that money is theirs. GM also seeks a slew of documents from dealers in discovery. GM's Illinois attorneys didn't respond by deadline. No hearing date has been set.
