Good, bad news for clothing e-tailers

Online apparel retailers will have a good holiday season, but the long-term outlook for the sector is less jolly, according to a new survey from NPD Group, Port Washington, N.Y. NPD's Apparel E-Commerce Report projects e-tailers will sell $600 million worth of apparel this holiday season, up from $250 million in 1998. However, it also found that 47% of consumers with Internet access say they will never shop online for apparel, and even 40% of veteran Internet users say they will never e-shop for clothes.
