(April 20, 2001) -- Boise, Idaho-based Albertson's announced it will use five existing brick-and-mortar grocery stores in Seattle rather than a fulfillment center for its orders from Albertsons.com, allowing for a broader product selection. General merchandise will expand by 59%, meat choices will grow 53% and bakery items will increase 38%.

Albertsons.com users also will get merchandise from their local stores throughout Seattle, which were chosen based on the concentration of existing dot-com customers. After placing orders online, customers can either have the groceries delivered to their homes or offices or they can pick up their orders at any of Albertson's 36 participating stores in western Washington.-- Adrienne Mand
