Gruner & Jahr acquires 'Inc.'

Gruner & Jahr USA Publishing announced on June 20 it had reached an agreement to acquire Inc. magazine. The Boston-based magazine for small and midsize businesses has a circulation of 663,909, and last year took in ad revenue of $105.2 million. Through May of this year, Inc.'s ad pages were up 21.5%. The purchase includes Inc.com and Inc. Business Resources, which organizes business conferences. Inc. was founded in 1979 by Bernie Goldhirsh and is perhaps best known for its annual Inc. 500 issue, which lists the fastest-growing private companies in the U.S.
