The U.S. Air Force, Washington, on Nov. 21 is expected to formally name GSD&M, Austin, Texas, to handle its $40 million annual account. Air Force officials on Nov. 21 confirmed they will issue a news release awarding the account, but not until the stock market closes. GSD&M will succeed 14-year incumbent Bozell Kamstra, Irving, Texas. Bozell Kamstra and New York sibling Bozell Group were finalists in the Air Force review as was Image Media Services, McLean, Va. GSD&M partnered with two minority-targeted agencies in its bid: Dieste
& Partners, Dallas, for the Hispanic market and Footsteps, New York, for African-Americans. The Air Force contract is a one-year incentive-based pact and can be renewed for six more years. In September, the Air Force gave all three agencies $50,000 to develop a prospective national advertising and marketing plan. GSD&M expects to produce its first campaign early next year.
