Guarascio to advise NFL on marketing

Published on .

Phil Guarascio, who retired May 1 as VP-general manager of corporate advertising and marketing at General Motors Corp., will now consult with the National Football League on its marketing and merchandising efforts. Mr. Guarascio also recently took a position on the board of Hot Jobs. In addition to those two duties, he is expected to consult on other ad and marketing-related ventures, according to executives close to him. One executive said Interpublic Group of Cos., owner of key GM ad agencies, also offered him a position. In an e-mail Mr. Guarascio sent out last month to an Advertising Age reporter, he said, when discussing his future plans, "All I can tell you is that there'll be a little East Coast flavor and a little West Coast flavor and maybe a little dash of Europe thrown in.''
