H. Eugene Lockhart leaves AT&T for Internet venture

H. Eugene Lockhart, former AT&T Corp. president of consumer services, will join a private Internet company backed by DLJ Merchant Banking Partners. As first reported by Advertising Age Feb. 14, Mr. Lockhart, 50, departs the company this week. The as-yet-unnamed venture will be an "Internet-centric business-to-consumer company.'' Other financial investors and a strategic corporate investor will also back the venture. Before joining AT&T, Mr. Lockhart was president of BankAmerica Corp.'s Global Retail Bank and before that, president and CEO of MasterCard International.
