H-P down to nine

Published on .

Hewlett-Packard has narrowed the review for its estimated $40 million printer account to nine agencies: Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, McCann-Erickson Worldwide and Foote, Cone & Belding, all San Francisco; Team One Advertising, El Segundo, Calif.; Highway One, Los Angeles; Rubin Postaer & Associates, Santa Monica, Calif.; Dahlin Smith White, Salt Lake City; and Campbell Mithun Esty and Fallon-McElligott, both Minneapolis.

H-P officials have indicated the estimated $20 million account for the home personal computer line may be moved to the winning agency. Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising, San Francisco, is the previous agency for printers and has the home PC assignment through launch this spring. Sister Saatchi agency Team One is representing Saatchi in the pitch. A decision is expected in early May.
