H&R BLOCK TO BOOST IN-HOUSE MARKETING EFFORTS

(April 25, 2001) -- H&R Block reorganized its marketing department and plans to add 30 staffers to boost its in-house marketing operations in its tax, business services and e-commerce businesses.

Scott Ragan was promoted to vice president for tax marketing and business development, and Karl Ploeger has become vice president of creative services; both were previously assistant vice presidents.

The company has boosted its activities in the last two years to add more year-round financial services business such as brokerage, mortgages and tax-consulting for businesses. Last year, it introduced a lineup of year-round financial centers offering advisory and financial management products. -- Mercedes Cardona
