Hachette Filipacchi Magazines' custom publishing division will produce a one-time publication for Ferrari North America, titled Rosso Ferrari at Fifty.

The special collectors edition magazine, to be published in September, will celebrate the automaker's 50th anniversary.


Road & Track, also celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, will host a 1-hour show on the Speedvision cable network, airing in September. Titled "Road & Track Presents Ferrari at Fifty," the cable special will air footage from Ferrari's anniversary celebration staged in Rome this June.

Michelle Berman, VP-group publisher of Hachette's custom publishing group, commissioned the special and said the show will most likely be sponsored by a tire manufacturer.

The publisher will distribute 50,000 copies to Ferrari owners and key subscribers of Hachette's Car & Driver, Elle, Flying, George, Road & Track and Showboats International.

An additional 20,000 copies will be out on newsstands Sept. 15 with a $6.95 cover price.

In addition to Ferrari ads, the magazine will carry about 30 to 40 ad pages from advertisers including Harry Winston Inc. jewelers, Gerard Perraguex watches, Ferragamo and J.P. Tod's.
