Harper's goes online

Published on .

Harper's Magazine launches a site on Aug. 20 at http://www.harpers.org that includes signature sections from the magazine such as the Harper's Interactive Index--an online component to the print edition's Harper's Index--as well as a place for users to e-mail staff and subscribe. Online transactions are possible on the site's Electronic Bookshelf, where books published under Harper's Franklin Square imprint are available.

Launch advertisers include Prudential Securities, Absolut Vodka and three online literary magazines: Salon, Feed, and Stim. Small World Software, New York, designed the site.
