Hasbro, in preparation for a mid-2000 launch of its Games.com online gaming site, said it reached an agreement with Go2Net, which owns a network of content sites including PlaySite, to develop online games featuring Hasbro's brands such as Monopoly, Clue, Risk, Battleship and Wizards of the Coast. Games.com will offer 50 branded games, most of which will be multiplayer Java games. Games.com will include three primary revenue sources, generating income via advertising, a com store and premium subscription services. Hasbro and Go2Net will share ad and sponsorship revenue. Go2Net will pay Hasbro $7.5 million to license and access Hasbro's games for a co-branded Games.com offering on PlaySite. Hasbro expects to spend approximately $60 million to develop and launch Games.com.
