Hasbro profits soar

Hasbro, Pawtucket, R.I., posted a 20% increase in fourth-quarter earnings over a year ago, pushed along by its hot Christmas seller, Furby. The U.S.' second-largest toymaker had earnings of $131.8 million on 18% higher sales of $1.3 billion. The company is expected to post another strong year in 1999 with the release of the "Star Wars" first-episode film, for which it has extensive licensing agreements.
