Hasbro puts $14 million behind Pokemon

Hasbro, Pawtucket, R.I., will put $14 million worth of advertising behind its Pokemon-related toy products in 2000, the company revealed at the American International Toy Fair in New York. Grey Advertising, New York, will create the advertising to support products such as Pokemon energy beads and the I Choose You line. Another product receiving major ad support this year is Hasbro's Action Man. The action figure, already sold in the U.K., will get $12 million in advertising in 2000. Griffin Bacal has created TV, print, radio and Web advertising for the U.S. launch.
