SINGAPORE--Web sites for the Asian divisions of Home Box Office (HBO) and Cinemax launched Dec. 8. Both sites contain film lists and synopses for the current month and the following month, as well as recommendations for current films, information about upcoming titles and highlights of exclusive programs such as miniseries, concerts and documentaries on HBO.

Non-subscribers can also visit the site to locate the nearest local cable operator that carries HBO programming.

"Over time, we look to customize the contents by offering multiple languages -- Chinese, Thai as well as Malay -- and increase the level of interaction by incorporating games and movie-related activities. In the new millennium, we can also look forward to trailers of all the movies that HBO and Cinemax are showing for the month," says James Marturano, senior VP-sales and marketing at HBO Asia in Singapore.

An advertising campaign promoting both sites, created by Publicis affiliate FCA! Communication Agency in Singapore, will launch early next year targeting major markets including Singapore and Thailand.

Based in Singapore, HBO Asia is the pay-TV service of HBO Pacific Partners, a joint venture between Time Warner Entertainment, Paramount Films of Southeast Asia, Sony Pictures Entertainment and Universal Studios that was launched in June 1992. The service is currently available in 21 markets across Asia.
