NEW YORK -- Bozell Worldwide is moving the founder of its Italian ad agency to New York to head up its Latin American operations.

Claudio Pella is the new exec VP-Bozell Latin America, succeeding Calvin Mew, who has asked for a sabbatical.

Mr. Pella was previously managing director of Bozell Italia, Milan, formerly known as Bozell Testa Pella Rossetti. He also managed all of Bozell's offices in Southern Europe.

Mr. Pella will oversee the entire Latin America region, including offices in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Equador, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico and Venezuela.

Mr. Mew has managed the Latin American region since 1995, during which time the network's billings there grew by 21% to $234 million in 1997. Under Mr. Mew's management, the agency has recruited several new partners and affiliate agencies, including Bozell Vazquez (Argentina), InterAd Bozell (Panama), Quality Promocional (Brazil), Bozell Borobio (Peru) and Bozell Equador.

David Bell, president/CEO of Bozell Worldwide, says: "We will miss Calvin during his leave of absence and look forward to his return to our organization. He has been a very important part of our management for the last 19 years and has greatly contributed to the growth of our company."
