HearMe March 1 launched VoiceContact, a way for users to communicate in real time through a voice link embedded in an e-mail. The free service allows people to schedule one-to-one or group conversations without having to download large audio software files. Visitors use the service by clicking on the VoiceContact button on HearMe's Web site. An e-mail is then delivered to a friend or colleague prompting them to participate in a live audio conversation. The recipient need only click on the link to join the conversation. While the product currently is free, HearMe plans to add additional functionality and offer premium upgrades for a fee.
