Hearst to show 24-hour animation in Latin America

NEW YORK -- Communications company the Hearst Corporation is teaming up with the Venezuelan Cisneros Group of Companies to launch a new 24-hour animation programming service for 23 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.

"Locomotion" is due to launch this fall and will initially be broadcast via DIRECTV, the first direct-to-home television entertainment service for all of Latin America and the Caribbean. It will be in Spanish, Portuguese and English.

The Hearst Corporation will provide the programming from its animation library, while the Cisneros Group has the region-wide marketing and distribution networks.The Cisneros Group is a partner in Galaxy Latin America, which will deliver the DIRECTV service to Latin America.
