Helene Curtis signs grid star

Published on .

NFL-bound college football stand-out Kevin Hardy has been signed by Helene Curtis Industries' Degree anti-perspirant to appear in a spot from DDB Needham, Chicago, called "The Hottest Rookies," which will hit in August. Mr. Hardy, a University of Illinois linebacker drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars, is repped by ProServ, Arlington, Va. More and more advertisers seems to be looking to young if untested football stars as pitchmen: Heisman Trophy winner Eddie George, repped by International Creative Management, New York, appeared in a Super Bowl spot for Tylenol. Keyshawn Johnson, drafted No. 1 this spring by the New York Jets, will appear in adidas America ads this fall.
