Hilfiger sues jeans e-tailer

Published on .

Tommy Hilfiger Corp., New York, filed suit today against Ronnies Club 501, Los Angeles, an e-tailer that operates tommyhilfigerwarehouse.com, a site selling Hilfiger jeans and shirts. The suit, filed in U.S. District Court in New York, charges the Web site with trademark infringement and sales of counterfeit Hilfiger goods, and asks for Ronnies to surrender the Web site address. Hilfiger filed a similar suit in August against Bluefly.com, another apparel e-tailer. Hilfiger has plans to launch a new Web site at tommy.com to promote its products and direct consumers to retailers. The company has filed 45 registrations for similar addresses including Tommydirect.com, Hilfigerdirect.com, Clubtommy. com and E-Tommy.com.
