Hispanic group sues WPP shops

Published on .

The Hispanic Newspaper Network filed a $1 billion lawsuit in U.S. District Court, New York, against WPP Group agencies Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide and J. Walter Thompson Co., and soon-to-be WPP shop Young & Rubicam, contending they have excluded minority-owned publications in media buys for federal government accounts. The three agencies had done work for governmental groups such as the U.S. Census, Army, Marines and Postal Service. The agencies named in the suit either declined comment or weren't available for comment.
