Holiday Spam provides relief

Published on .

It's not e-mail spam, but good-old fashion luncheon meat Spam by Hormel that is helping people over the holidays. In a relief effort targeted at victims of Typhoon Paka, Hormel Foods is sending 5,500 cases of Spam and other food products to the island of Guam. Cooperating with Hormel in the relief effort are Northwest Airlines and the Salvation Army. The Federal Emergency Management Agency put preliminary damage from the typhoon at more than $100 million, with nearly half the island's 60,000 homes destroyed.

Separately, Hormel is putting the finishing touches on its Web site, which will launch next month.
