Home office use of the Internet grows dramatically: IDC

The percentage of U.S. home office PC households with Internet access soared to almost 81% by the end of 1999, up dramatically from just 26% at yearend 1996, according to a report from IDC. This percentage will reach 92% in 2004, driven primarily by the availability of Internet-ready PCs that simplify going online for small businesses as well as high-speed access through DSL and cable modems, the report found.
