Hormel Foods and the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues teamed up for a Minor League Baseball promotion this summer giving fans free hot dogs and soft drinks at Sunday home games in exchange for product proofs-of-purchase from the Hormel or Dubuque brands. The promotion, handled in-house, runs through September and reaches 50 Minor League Baseball markets where it's backed by local radio and print advertising and point-of-purchase materials.

Food Network this fall launches "Bam! Bam! Tailgate Jam," offering viewers the chance to win an expenses-paid trip to the 1999 Super Bowl and attend the official NFL tailgate party with star chef Emeril Lagasse. The cable network also has announced a promotion starting next year, offering an expenses-paid trip for four viewers to France for a tour of famous restaurants and vineyards, cooking lessons with master chefs, and a balloon ride over the French countryside. Both promotions are handled in-house.

Black Enterprise/Pepsi Golf & Tennis Challenge plans several new sponsors for its fifth annual event slated for Sept. 3 to 7, including Andersen Consulting, Lucent Technologies, Frito-Lay and Ryder System.
