HOT SPOT: GENERAL MOTORS: CUP FOR MONTE CARLO

General Motors Corp.'s Chevrolet division upped its motorsports-related ad spending this year for Monte Carlo, to $7 million from $3.9 million. A new TV spot from Campbell-Ewald, Warren, Mich., broke June 22 on ABC during Nascar's Winston Cup race broadcast from Ontario, Calif. It's one of two commercials for 1997 linking the car and its participation in the Nascar Winston Cup Series.
