Pizza Hut on May 1 introduces its "totally new pizzas" with an onslaught of TV spots from BBDO
Worldwide, New York, starring company President David Novak. The chain is boosting its annual ad budget 12% to $200 million this year to promote the "chunkier toppings and fresher ingredients" of the new pies, which come with a money-back guarantee. Each restaurant in the chain will give away 250 pizzas during the launch. Mr. Novak instituted the back-to-basics drive last August in an attempt to reverse Pizza Hut's sagging sales.
