Hewlett-Packard Co.'s Personal Systems Group, Santa Clara, Calif., named Publicis & Hal Riney, San Francisco, to handle a new incremental global brand assignment. Spending was not set but could be as high as an estimated $30 million. Publicis, whose London office handles the estimated $15 million PC product ad account in Europe, prevailed in an informal pitch against Saatchi & Saatchi, San Francisco, which handles the estimated $15 million U.S. PC product account. HP has asked Saatchi to continue with the U.S. work and to handle all PC global media buying., but Saatchi is expected to resign the PC account. That would pave the way for Riney to take over the U.S. PC product work. Saatchi's San Francisco office retains HP's estimated $50 million Enterprise Systems Group and the Pavilion home PC.
