HP, Lucent tap Web Associates

Hewlett-Packard Co. and Lucent Technologies named World Wide Web Associates, Santa Barbara, Calif., to handle Web product information sites. Both sites will focus on delivering technical data to corporate customers. Web Associates is a year-old company focusing on technology-related Web sites.

VocalTec, a provider of Internet telephony, unveiled software that enables users of traditional phones to call Internet phones and vice versa. Users can use the software to place calls from Web pages to other PCs or standard phones. Also, Web marketers can link online customers directly to call centers via hyperlinks. The products are compatible with both the Microsoft and Netscape browsers.
