Hewlett-Packard Co.'s U.S. printer and peripherals division, Boise, Idaho, chose finalists for its $40 million review: Fallon
McElligott, Minneapolis; Goodby
, Silverstein & Partners, San Francisco; Rubin Postaer & Associates, Santa Monica, Calif.; and Team One
Advertising, El Segundo, Calif., sister shop of incumbent Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising, San Francisco. A decision is expected in May. Separately, Hewlett-Packard assigned its $30 million pan-European advertising account for personal computers to Publicis, Paris, which recently lost the Intel account in Europe. Incumbent Saatchi & Saatchi pitched for the account along with D'Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles and McCann-Erickson. H-P, which claims second place for PC sales in Europe's corporate market, says it wants to expand into the small office/home office sector. "Our markets are changing rapidly, forcing us to constantly re-evaluate our strategies," says Jos Brenkel, European marketing manager for H-P's Personal Information Products Group in Grenoble, France. Saatchi & Saatchi still has the H-P pan-European printer account.
