The Hub to ink deal with Tower Records

The Hub is expected to announce a one-year deal with Tower Records the week of Sept. 22, making it the exclusive music retailer on the entertainment site.

The Hub, a joint venture between New Line Television and Greenhouse Networks/America Online, generates 3 million visits a month on AOL; it also has a Web site that is officially being launched this month.

Director of Sales and Marketing Peyton Kay, described the deal as a real estate one, but declined to disclose its exact terms. "It's not impression-based or with sales guarantees," he said, adding that The Hub would be doing cross-promotions in Tower's stores, and also posting Web incentives to drive traffic to Tower's online store.

Late last week, AOL signed a deal with N2K's Music Boulevard, making it the exclusive music retailer on AOL's MusicSpace and other music-related areas on AOL, excluding The Hub.
