Hyundai taps Asian shop for U.S.

Published on .

Hyundai Motor America, Fountain Valley, Calif., tapped Asian American Advertising, Los Angeles, as first agency of record for that ethnic market. The shop bested three other area agencies--EDN, M-Advertising and SA&S--in a shoot-out for the estimated $1.5 million creative and media account. Asian American handled a 1999 Chinese ad project for the carmaker. The agency will develop campaigns and buy media for Korean-language and Mandarin Chinese TV and newspapers.
