National Geographic said it will launch sites on CompuServe and the World Wide Web beginning this June. The online content will take users on assignments with the National Geographic staff, including an interactive journey up a Peruvian mountain to find a 500-year-old mummy or a virtual dive with exploreers searching a shipwreck. The site will also include its Traveler magazine and childrens magazine World. National Geographic online will sell sponsorships and advertising. Rates have yet to be determined.
