Newsweek says Klein to stay

Newsweek Wednesday denied a report in The Wall Street Journal that it has suspended columnist Joe Klein. Mr. Klein has been under fire for emphatically denying that he was the author of the bestselling political novel "Primary Colors," then admitting authorship last week. Newsweek said in a statement that it has asked Mr. Klein to "spend a few weeks reflecting on the controversy...and discussing it with his colleagues." Richard M. Smith, Newsweek's president and editor in chief, said, "I very much want and expect [Mr. Klein] to remain a Newsweek columnist..
