(July 26, 2001) SAO PAULO -- Agencies are competing for the account to launch U.S. magazine Rolling Stone in Brazil, according to local reports.

Newspaper Meio & Mensagem suggests Grey Global Group's Grey Brazil and Publicis Groupe's Publicis Norton are pitching for the business to Argentinean communications group La Nacion, which edits the magazine in Argentina and holds its copyrights in Latin America.

Wenner Media, which controls Rolling Stone worldwide, recently hired Hermes Consulting Management to study opportunities in the Brazilian market, the paper claims. -- Claudia Penteado
