The Internet Advertising Bureau on Dec. 11 will announce its recommendations for Web advertising guidelines. The guidelines are expected to offer suggested sizes and definitions for different types of advertising and are designed to reduce the number of ad sizes and shapes currently in existence on the Web. The IAB has been developing its proposal for several months and recently joined forces with the ad industry's Coalition for Advertising Supported Information & Entertainment, which issued its own guidelines in the fall.
The IAB will unveil its recommendations during a daylong meeting held in conjunction with Internet World in New York. The industry group also will announce the results of a project by Coopers & Lybrand to determine total revenues within the Web ad industry and will elect officers.
