Published on .

IBM Corp. and MasterCard International announced a worldwide joint marketing alliance to promote market development for secure credit card payments over the Internet and other public networks. Beginning in 1997, select MasterCard members around the world will be offered the opportunity to pilot IBM's CommercePOINT, an end-to-end network payment solution to create a secure environment for their customers to conduct credit card transactions over the Internet. The joint pilot program also offers business benefits for card holders, including discounts on software and technical support.
