Felice Kincannon's days are busy. Her job is to keep watch on the six Omnicom Group interactive shops, held under Omnicom Group's new media unit, Communicade.

"My mission is to be a facilitator to help each of these six companies develop their business through referrals in the Omnicom network, independent of the Omnicom network," said Ms. Kincannon.

Omnicom shocked the agency and new media industries last September when it acquired minority stakes in five new media shops: Agency.com, Interactive Solutions, Razorfish, Red Sky Interactive and Think New Ideas. Organic Online, San Francisco, joined the group in early 1997.

Ms. Kincannon, who became interested in new media in the mid-'80s after turning down a position with an infomercial company, was key in selecting the shops, working as a consultant to Omnicom. She set criteria for the selection of the new shops: "Great creative, blue chip client list, sound business management and the kind of people you'd like to break bread with."

Betcha didn't know: Ms. Kincannon enjoys fly fishing, a sport she picked up about 12 years ago.
