Indonesia gets first radio e-commerce site

JAKARTA--An Indonesian Internet content provider has launched the first radio e-commerce site in the country with five leading FM radio stations.

John Tumiwa, director of P.T. Usaha Distri Bersama, says the site offers a medium for advertisers to place their ads and radio commercials and sell their products.

The site allows users to hear radio commercials from the advertisers and make direct purchases on the Internet.

"We cooperate with five radio stations in Jakarta and we will expand with other stations in big cities in Indonesia. This business model works since we use radio for our promotion items," says Mr. Tumiwa.

Mr. Tumiwa says all advertisers at the site will automatically receive ad time on the five FM stations -- Prambors, Delta, Bahana, M92 and Hard Rock FM.

P.T. Usaha Distri Bersama also manages the increasingly popular Asian news Web site asiagateway.com.
