The Industry Standard discontinues ‘Grok’

Published on .

Internet newsmagazine The Industry Standard will discontinue its monthly magazine, The Industry Standard Grok after the publication's February issue. Industry Standard launched the feature publication in September as a way of handling its overflow of ads. A spokeswoman at the publication attributed the closing to the downturn in ad sales from Internet companies, and said the title would continue to appear 10 times a year as a supplement within The Standard. While The Standard's ad pages are up overall from 1999, three recent individual issues have showed the magazine's first decline in ad pages. The Oct. 9 issue was down 14 percent from last year, while Nov. 13 was down 13 percent, and the Nov. 20 issue was off 20 percent.
