'The Industry Standard' ponders public offering

International Data Group has retained Hambrecht & Quist to explore a partial sale--as much as 20%--of The Industry Standard, its weekly covering Internet business. The move is viewed as a prelude for an IPO. The Industry Standard could be valued at as much as $225 million, based on the asking price for the 20% stake.
