Infomercials spend big

The most successful infomercials of 1995 spent an average of $2 million-plus per month on media time, according to John Kogler, publisher of the Greensheet Report. The infomercials that topped the weekly Jordan Whitney Top 40 chart were the basis of the average. Only 12 of the 500 infomercials aired last year led the weekly chart, the report said. "A successful infomercial will pull in approximately twice its media expenditure in gross sales," Mr. Kogler said.
