Infoseek gets backing

Infoseek Corp. secured approximately $15 million in investment capital from NYNEX, affinity marketing company TransNational and two other companies, according to CEO Robin Johnson. The majority of the investment sum comes from NYNEX, which fronted $9 million to the highly-trafficked Internet browsing and search service. Additionally, Matthew J. Stover, president-CEO of Nynex Information Resources, was elected to Infoseek's board. Infoseek is also launching a $4 million ad campaign using both online and bus-side creative. Margeotes Fertitta & Partners, New York, is the agency.
