Infoseek gets personal

Infoseek Corp. on Friday launches Infoseek Personal, a free, personalized news service on the Web at http://personal.infoseek.com. The service will be searchable and customizable and will allow users to tailor their individual Web sites with news from data sources including Reuters, Business Wire, Quote.com and Usenet news groups.

Based in Santa Clara, Calif., Infoseek will begin selling premium advertising sponsorships for more precise targeting. Users can search the archives of news sources and get headlines and summaries or full-text stories as well as see local movie and TV listings, weather forecasts, horoscopes and comics.
