Insurance association releases Internet white paper

A committee from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners released a white paper regarding the sale, marketing and regulation of insurance through the Internet. The paper talks about the pros and cons of insurance sales and service over the Internet, security and privacy issues, digital and electronic signatures, electronic applications, premium collection by credit card and licensure for agents, brokers, producers and companies.

The commission also looked at marketing insurance over the Internet and made several recommendations to the industry, such as a suggestion to closely examine electronic signatures.
