Intel goes with Pentium Pro

Published on .

Intel Corp., Santa Clara, Calif., will call its upcoming code-named P6 microprocessor the ``Pentium Pro,'' opting to build on the equity of its current flagship chip for its next-generation product. Pentium Pro will be introduced in high-end business computers, such as servers, later this year and then work its way down to lower-price consumer and business PCs. Intel, the world's largest computer chip marketer, claims Pentium has awareness among 80% of home PC buyers and 95% of business computer users.
