(April 23, 2001) -- Intel Corp. today announced it is sponsoring the Area: One Music Festival, headlined by electronic music artist Moby.

Intel's tie-in with the summer tour will help the microprocessor giant promote its Pentium 4 processor. At festival locations, concertgoers will have an opportunity to visit a digital music zone and create their own music videos, mix music and e-mail postcards on Pentium 4-based PCs. Intel's Pocket PC Camera and Pocket Concert MP3 player also will be on display at the concert venues.

"Our goal is to team with artists who push the boundaries of technology to create exciting new forms of music," said John Travis, director of Worldwide Consumer Promotions for Intel.

Retail promotions are also planned for tour cities. The 17-city tour, featuring acts including Outkast, New Order and Nelly Furtado, begins July 11 in Atlanta. -- Tobi Elkin
